There’s a certain skill to making this Lily Of The Valley 1/2 Pint Jug, just like there is to picking the flower that adorns it. For instance, bench casting (pouring liquid clay slip into moulds) requires six months’ training and a 5am start at our factory, while sponge-painting complicated patterns on Emma Bridgewater pieces can take up to 15 minutes by hand. Early morning is the best time for picking lily of the valley, just after the dew dries. The trick is to pull the entire stem vertically from the base with a firm pop rather than cut it. This floral milk jug doubles up as a lovely small pottery vase for your lily of the valley bunch; add fresh water and sit back with a mug of tea.
