Frederick William baldwin SMA 1899 - 1984, pencil, pen & Watercolour artist. Born lowestoft, 17 March 1899. The son of a builder, William Baldwin. He worked for his father as a draughtsman and in a similar capacity for Brooke Marine. His skills in the portrayal of buildings and boats were underpinned by this experience. Exhibited widely including at the RA.
Reproductions of his work were used on LNER trains and featured in books by Greg Norden and Richard Scott (Artists of Welberswick: East Anglian interludes 1880-2000: Art Dictionaries, 2002). He gave this Portmeirion watercolour to Clough Wiliams-Ellis. Signed and dated "F.W.Baldwin '59". This fine art print is printed on French made museum quality cold pressed, acid free watercolor paper.
