Clough Williams-Ellis
Bertram Clough Williams-Ellis was the architect responsible for designing and building Portmeirion between 1925 and 1973, to demonstrate that development of a naturally beautiful site need not result in its defilement. He wanted to practice what he preached as a conservationist and capmaigner for the protection of the environment.
